What is zirconia?
Zirconia is a ceramic material used in dentistry. In this context, it describes the restoration above the implants, not necessarily the implants themselves. The advertised package includes final fixed zirconia restorations according to the agreed treatment plan.
Monolithic and layered constructions
A monolithic design is made primarily from a zirconia body. A layered design adds ceramic in selected areas for appearance. The balance between appearance, thickness and mechanical requirements is considered by the clinical and laboratory teams.
Appearance and everyday function
Shade, contours, translucency and how the restoration meets your lips are individual design decisions. “Natural-looking” is an aim to discuss through planning and try-ins, not a result that a material name can guarantee.
The complete restoration’s weight and comfort depend on its volume and design. A simple claim that every zirconia bridge is heavy or light is not useful.
Surfaces, wear and cleaning
Your team considers surface finish and the opposing teeth or restoration. Ask how bite changes or rough areas should be checked. Follow the cleaning routine demonstrated for the space beneath your bridge.
Chipping and repair considerations
Ceramic can be damaged. Whether a problem can be polished, repaired or requires a new restoration depends on its position, extent and the construction. A zirconia bridge is not maintenance-free.
Discuss these possibilities before choosing a restoration and keep your planned professional reviews.
