Titanium-supported zirconia. The structure beneath.

A titanium framework and a zirconia restoration can perform different roles within a planned full-arch construction.

Why combine titanium and zirconia?

A titanium framework can provide structural support while zirconia forms the tooth-coloured restoration. Connecting components join the planned construction to the implants. This is one design option, not a statement that every zirconia bridge includes a bar.

The parts of the concept

The simplified sequence below shows how one type of restoration may be arranged. The actual components, connections and whether the zirconia is one piece or several parts depend on the design.

Fit, precision and the laboratory workflow

The clinical team and laboratory work to achieve an appropriate fit of the framework and restoration. “Passive fit” describes the aim of avoiding unwanted strain when a framework is connected; it is a design and verification concept rather than a guarantee.

Digital records and manufacturing may form part of the workflow. They do not replace clinical checks.

Maintenance and repairs

Ask how the restoration can be accessed for service, how you clean it and which parts could be repaired or replaced. A more complex construction can introduce different maintenance considerations.

Ask what is actually included

Your written plan should identify whether a titanium framework is proposed and how it supports the final zirconia restoration. Do not assume this design solely because the package says “zirconia”.
